St. Martha Parent Association

The St. Martha Parent Association (SMPA) is a service organization, comprised of volunteers, whose goal is to encourage the social and communication components that every successful community needs, such as welcoming new families, organizing and communicating with parents about social events, providing spiritual support, performing acts of Christian service, and promoting school spirit.

Listed below are the current SMPA Committees:

 

 

Catholic Outreach Committee

The Catholic Outreach Committee is responsible for coordinating and supporting activities that promote the school’s Catholic Identity. Activities include the weekly Rosary Group; food drives and volunteer days; clothing, book, and school supply drives; coordinating the Keep Sarasota County Beautiful Adopt-A-Road clean-up dates and volunteers; hosting Coffee & Conversation for parents; coordinating the Heart to Heart Program, which offers help to families and staff members who are facing a debilitating illness or other unique circumstance.

Room Parents

Room Parents help disseminate information to other parents about school activities, events and volunteer opportunities. They collaborate in planning special events for their assigned classrooms and are expected to attend monthly meetings.

Library & Book Fair Volunteers 

The Library Committee assists the school Librarian / Media Specialist weekly with tasks such as shelving books, minor book repair, assisting students in checking-out / checking-in books, library inventory and helps to coordinate the Book Fair, which takes place twice per year.

New Family Ambassador Committee

The New Family Ambassadors Committee works to recruit current families to serve as mentors for new families prior to the start of the school year as well as throughout the year.

Teacher Appreciation Committee

The Teacher Appreciation Committee is responsible for working closely with School Administration to plan, coordinate and implement activities and for Teacher Appreciation Week.

Father Daughter Dance Committee

The Father Daughter Dance Committee is responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing the Annual Father Daughter Dance event.

Mother Son Event

The Mother Son Event is a fun evening for Moms and their sons to get together and participate in different activities. This committee is responsible for planning and implementing all aspects of the event.

Cafeteria Volunteer Committee

The Cafeteria Committee is responsible for coordinating volunteers to assist in the Cafeteria each school day.

Garden To Table

This committee works closely with the Cafeteria Manager to plan and implement the Garden To Table event. This fun, family event typically takes place in the Fall and features various foods and activities created with items from our many gardens, as well as local vendors.

School Gardens

This committee works closely with the Cafeteria Manager to create and maintain the various gardens throughout the school campus. These gardens are used for nutritional and educational purposes for the students. Volunteers will monitor the raised bed gardens, butterfly garden, tower gardens, etc. and ensure proper weeding and watering, as well as to help coordinate student involvement in the maintenance and care of the gardens.

Santa's Workshop

The Santa's Workshop Committee is responsible for working with Administration to oversee the planning, design and implementation of Santa's Workshop, a fun-filled Christmas day for all students.

Grandparents' Day Committee

Grandparents' Day is an opportunity for grandparents to come into the school and engage in activities with their grandchildren, while also having the chance to see the classrooms and campus. This committee is responsible for working with Administration to coordinate the days' activities, schedule, invitations, event set-up and clean-up, etc. 

Golf Tournament

Our Annual Father Fausto Golf Cup is one of the primary funding sources, specifically for technology initiatives, upgrades, and enhancements.
