Day three of the 8th Grade DC Trip began with a somber visit to the Pentagon 9/11 Memorial, where everyone took a moment to honor and remember the lives lost in this tragic event. They then proceeded to the Iwo Jima Memorial. The journey continued to the Capitol Building, where they were given a comprehensive tour that included insights into the legislative process and the history of this iconic structure. Thanks to the generosity of Vern Buchanan's office, they were granted special passes to the House of Representatives Gallery. They also had the rare opportunity to visit the Senate Gallery. A very special thanks to Mike Jackson for arranging this memorable experience. The afternoon was dedicated to exploring the Smithsonian museums around the National Mall. As the day drew to a close, they enjoyed a delightful dinner at National Harbor, followed by a scenic ride on the Capital Wheel. Tuesday was filled with learning, excitement, and memorable moments for our 8th Graders in Washington, DC! The day began with a visit to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, where students were in awe of the stunning architecture and the peaceful atmosphere. They learned about the significance of this sacred place and the role it plays in the community and participated in Mass. They next visited the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. This was a profound experience for all, as the students engaged with the exhibits and gained a deeper understanding of this tragic chapter in history. After a reflective pause, they headed to the iconic Washington Monument. The students learned about the monument's history and its place in American culture. The evening was filled with cheers and fun as they attended a Washington Nationals game. #ExcellenceInKnowledge #StrengthInFaith #8thGrade #DCTrip

8th Graders headed out bright and early Monday morning for the trip to Washington, DC! They hit the ground running with the first stop being Arlington National Cemetery, where they witnessed the Changing of the Guard, President Kennedy’s Tomb, and the Lee House with amazing views. They visited and learned all about the FDR Memorial, Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial, and the Jefferson Memorial. Dinner was at Georgetown University. They ended the day with evening tours of the Korean War Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, and the WWII Memorial. #ExcellenceInKnowledge #8thGrade #DCTrip
